My new set of used golf clubs

OK, I figured if I want to continue playing, I am going to have to get my own set of golf clubs. Otherwise I will have to relearn the clubs every time I play. Problem is I don’t want to spend $500 on golf clubs – yard sales to the rescue. Dvorit, my wife, usually works on Saturdays, but on this specific Saturday she did not work. At around 10 AM we took my truck, a Ford f-150 sometimes called the monster, and began looking for yard sales in the area. While we did not find any golf clubs, we did find a zip lock bag of about 30 golf balls for $3.00.
I had already begun to look on Craig’s List and eBay for a used set. When we got back from our yard sale scavenging, I checked my emails and one of the guys through Craig’s List responded. He had a number of sets that he was selling off at $30 each (golf bag included), and would take $5 off for every additional set that we bought. After calling him, we drove down to see what he had.
There were about 5 old partial sets. Being the first one to respond to his advertisement, we got to mix and match the sets to get what we wanted. I chose what looked like the two best bags and matched what I could. In the end I got I complete set (minus the putter) and a partial set – both for a total of $55. Why 2 sets? At that price I figured out it was worth it in case my wife or anyone else ever wants to join me.
Now all I needed was a putter. I heard about a place off of route 12 in Leominster that has both used and new sport equipment. I went there to see what they have, and I found a used putter is great shape for $13. I also got a bag of tees for $4 and some markers for the green for a buck.
Now I am all set.
Clubs and Bag - $55.00
Putter + Tees + Markers - $18.00
Zip lock bag of balls - $3.00
Total cost to get me ready - $76.00. That is a much better deal than the $500 for a new set.
Now we’ll just have to see how I do with them. ;o)
