Almost Rained out

Based upon the number of leaves in my yard, fall is here. Last year we took out some 100 bags of leaves from our yard. That was a back breaker. This year I thought to try something different (other than paying someone else to do it). What we did was I bought a bag for our lawnmower, to mow over the grass and leaves. Saturday morning I finished assembling the bag and put it on our lawn mower, fired her up and went off to mow the lawn/collect the leaves. It worked great, it turned the leaves into little pieces of mulch and into the bag they went. The problem was that every line and a half of grass I cut, I had to empty the bag. Usually it takes me about 45 minutes to mow the lawn, this time it took about 2 hours. That is still much faster than had I tried to rake the leaves without the help of my mower.
The plan was for me to finish up the yard work and then try and get in 9 holes at the Lancaster Golf Center. My wife works on Saturdays, so if I can play on Saturday it does not cut into out limited quality time. Unfortunately the second part of that plan was not meant to be. As I was finishing up the lawn/leaves it began to rain. Oh well, at least Dvorit will be happy when she gets home and sees the lawn. What would have usually taken about 15-20 bags only took 4 bags, so the mower did the trick.
Come Sunday morning, the rain stopped so I went with my wife to the driving range. Got a bucket of 60 golf balls and began practicing. While I was feeling hot due to the exercise my wife felt like she was freezing, so I gave her the pull-over I was wearing. My driving is improving now. Last time I was at the driving range I think I missed about as many swings as I hit. This time I only missed a few. Most of the balls went between 100-200 yards. That was also a problem I was having before – I couldn’t seem to get the ait and distance at the beginning. A decent number of the balls actually went straight and not as many went off to the right (another problem I seem to have).
Al is good in the world – did my yard work and got in some golf, even if only the driving range – all on the same weekend.
