drum lessons>>>>>boston/providence

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“When I began studying with Mike several months ago I was a completely

different drummer than I am now. I always felt like I wasn’t as good as I

should be with my three years of playing and had no experience playing with

other people. In the short time I’ve been with Mike I’ve made remarkable

improvements. I’ve studied with two other people before Mike and he teaches

on a completely different level than the past two; incomparable. On of the

things he teaches that I find extremely useful is dynamic balance between

limbs, something I never even considered before. In short, I’ve spent such

a small amount of time with Mike, in the scope of my life as a drummer, and

I’ve seen the most improvement in that time.”

-brian m

“I feel very fortunate to be taking lessons from a guy with such an impressive professional recording resume. Mike’s one of the few teachers who’s actually ‘walked the walk’ before he ‘talks the talk”. Add to that a consistently positive attitude and passion for playing, and he’s a great find for a drum teacher.”

-juhani

“Imagine taking a 2-hour golf lesson with Tiger Woods, where a real pro

gives you pointers you can use right away. That’s exactly what Mike

can do for your drumming. In just one session he loaded me up with

lots of useful ideas for playing live and in the studio. I could walk

into a studio session right now and feel twice as confident as before.

If you are an experienced drummer, make the time to work with Mike.”

Pete N.

“I’ve been taking lessons from Mike Levesque for a while now and already am playing at a new level. It has taken me years, and several different teachers, and only Mike has really put me in the direction I want to be in. He is a great teacher who delivers what he promises, and is fun and personable to learn from. He also has the depth of knowledge and experience about what works and more importantly, what doesn’t work–so you can really get past whatever holds you back. He is by far the best teacher I have had and I am really excited about the possibilities of finally getting to the level I want to be at. He is practical but cuts no corners–you learn the right way but most efficient way to get to where YOU want to go, not where he as a teacher wants to take you. You definitely don’t get that from just anyone. Thanks, Mike!”

-lee

“after a 10 year break from playing the drums, i contacted mike levesque about taking some lessons. after just a few months of biweekly lessons the rust is off my playing and i’ve joined a new band. my confidence is back, my skills are better than ever and thanks again mike!

-rob

“Mike’s congeniality, enthusiasm for music, and outgoing personality make for upbeat and fun lessons that stay on a path that I dictate — a format that seems to be a rarity in the world of music instruction. If I have issues or current concerns with my playing, Mike has no qualms about exploring those first, repairing the problem and then moving on. One of Mike’s biggest assets is his ability to identify weaknesses in one’s playing — in a few seconds he is able to successfully evaluate exactly what the Achilles heel is that is causing the problem and offer several suggestions about how to rectify the issue as well as giving a spot-on demonstration of what should be happening with the trouble section.”

-matt (averi)

about me……

i’ve made records with david bowie, natalie imbruglia, candybutchers, and dozens of boston and providence independants like the montgomerys, juliana hatfield and sasquatch and the sickabillys. i’ve done literally thousands of gigs and have major label AND DIY touring experience. i’ve played on a number of advertising jingles for the baltimore orioles, NESN, the washington nationals and general motors. i’ve been featured in articles in spin, rolling stone, the boston globe and modern drummer.

i charge $40 per hour lesson at my place in providence and $100 for intensive 2 hour “house calls” in mass and ri. i’m open to any frequency of drum lessons that fits an individual’s schedule and budget. with one 2 hour lesson i can load you up with enough stuff to practice for months!

check out http://www.mikelevesque.com for my resume with mp3 and video samples. for a little of my take on the indie-rock check out http://www.lostaudionetwork.com

thanks for your time! i’m looking forward to hearing from some future great drummers.
